Our Five Areas of Focus for Environmental Sustainability

1. Solar Power

Our product may be clear. But our business is green. More than 2600 solar panels cover the entire roof of our Shelton Headquarters and manufacturing plant. Harnessing the power of the sun, these panels produce more than 15% of the energy needed to power our Shelton facility. Solar Power has many benefits including the reduction of air pollution, less carbon dioxide and methane emission, no greenhouse gas production, and a reduction in global warming. We partnered with EnterSolar, the leading provider of solar solutions for commercial enterprises, on the design and installation of our 965 Kilowatt rooftop system. The system is actively generating clean solar power every day.

2. Using Lowest Carbon Footprint Plastic

Our key ingredient is DPET™, a high performing plastic with the lowest carbon footprint on the market today. DPET™ removes 6 energy intensive steps in the manufacturing process as compared to the standard PET benefiting the environment. In the simplest terms, DPET is manufactured in a 3-step process. Compared to the traditional 9-step process to produce standard PET, this streamlined approach removes multiple steps and opportunities for a negative environmental impact from the equation.

3. All our Products are 100% Curbside Recyclable

All Inline Plastics containers are 100% curbside recyclable, making it easy and natural for consumers to recycle and more efficient for municipalities to collect and recycle. Inline products are also manufactured with high value plastic, DPET and rPET made of DPET. PET is the most commonly recycled plastic globally.

4. rPET - Recycled post industrial DPET

Our rPET is post-industrial recycled DPET. These flakes have a 28% LOWER carbon footprint than rPET made from bottles. Similar to our DPET, our rPET is crisper and clearer than traditional rPET allowing our products to be optically clearest in the market. Currently, about 15% of our raw materials are sourced from rPET made of DPET. Together with our partners, we are working on adding more rPET to our production and look forward to increasing that percentage in the near future.

5. Doing our Part in Educating Consumers About Recycling

In our research with consumers, we came to learn that the majority of them do not know the meaning of the recycled symbol that is embossed on most if not all PET containers in the market (usually on the bottom). This is why we are now spelling out ‘please recycle me’ on all our new containers while we slowly convert the old ones. ‘Please recycle me’ will be embossed on the bottom of every container – and more – where we have room, we are also adding it to the lid – making sure consumers have no doubt our packaging belongs in their recycling bin.
